What is Arcane Portraits?
Arcane Portraits is a free web tool that composes detailed, art-directed text prompts for fantasy character portraits. You pick traits — race, clothing, lighting, art style and more — and it assembles them into a polished prompt for any AI image generator.
Which AI image generators does it work with?
Any text-to-image model. The prompts are written in plain descriptive language that works with Midjourney, DALL·E / ChatGPT, Stable Diffusion, Flux, Leonardo, and similar generators.
Does it generate the images itself?
No — it generates the prompt text. You copy the finished prompt into the image generator you already use. That keeps it free and lets you use whichever model you prefer.
Is it free?
Yes. The generator is free to use without an account. Signing in adds saved history, reusable templates, and shareable links.
Can I use it for D&D or other TTRPG characters?
That is exactly what it is built for. Character types cover the classic tabletop range — knights, court mages, blacksmiths, assassins, druids and more — with per-type suggestions that keep every other trait coherent with the concept.
Can I share what I make?
Yes. Signed-in users can publish a portrait prompt to a public share link, and anyone with the link can view it or remix it into their own version.
Your party awaits their portraits.
